Liverpool vs Aston Villa Live Streaming EPL Match

"Mystical" Mike Norman believes that Monday night's live TV game will end in a straightforward victory for Liverpool, with one man in particular being key to their success. Best Bet: Back Steven Gerrard To Score at 2.5

Considering this is a clash between two of last season's top six clubs, there are a lot of pointers to suggest that the outcome is very likely to be a one-sided one.

Of course, football matches don't always play out the way you expect them to (just look at Hull's victory at Arsenal last season), but on Monday night Liverpool host Aston Villa in a Premier League game that really should be at the mercy of the home side.

The atmosphere at Anfield is well documented. The act’s an old one, but proven. Suffice to say that nothing in America compares. “You’ll Never Walk Alone” covered by the Kop, Anfield’s mammoth and historic end-zone stand, beats the heck out of “Renegade” by Styx (and everything else by Styx). The electricity is impossible to describe. You have to experience it.

Liverpool has won 18 English titles, tied for most with Manchester United, which edged Liverpool to earn No. 18 last season. Liverpool hasn’t won the league since 1990 but, to the credit of the supporters, hope outduels frustration. Most nights, anyway.

Just a few blocks from Anfield is Goodison Park, home of Everton Football Club. Everton also competes in English football’s top flight but, no matter how hard the effort, Everton comes off as a discount version of Liverpool. Big, but not quite as big. Good, but not quite as good. Corny instead of classy. Everton’s motto: “Nothing But the Best.” That might be more credible if their best player didn’t tank to force a transfer to Manchester City, and if the sausage rolls sold at their concession stands didn’t taste like something Michael Vick’s dogs would refuse to fight over.

Rafa Benitez's men made a lackluster start to their Premier League campaign against Spurs last Sunday, playing poorly and plainly missing the creative presence of midfielder Xabi Alonso. The Reds won't be the only team to come away from White Hart Lane empty handed however, and much more satisfying was Liverpool's 4-0 win at Anfield in midweek, where Steven Gerrard put in a scintillating performance.

And it's that man Gerrard who appears key to success here. The Liverpool skipper has scored 10 goals during his career against Aston Villa, more than he has scored against any other club. What's more, he scored a hat-trick in this corresponding fixture last season in which the home side ran out easy 5-0 winners.

So perhaps it's not surprising then that Gerrard - with no Gareth Barry in opposition to track his runs - is my 'best bet' selection for this game - available to back at around in the To Score market and at to be the First Goalscorer.

Defenders Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel are expected to miss the game through injury, whilst the man bought to replace Alonso - Alberto Aquilani - is still a few weeks away from being match fit. Greek international defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has joined Benitez's defensive ranks and could be in line to make his debut.

Alarmingly for Aston Villa, they have started this season in the same vein as they ended last. They collected just 11 points from a possible 39 to finish 2008/09, and they've started this term with two straight defeats - one in the league and one in Europe. Another statistic that Martin O'Neill's men have to overcome on Monday night is the fact that they haven't beaten Liverpool since 2001, a run stretching to 16 games.
